Good Bye

This has been a great experience and we have learnt so much in just on week. Miss Whizz is the best teacher and if it wasn't for her we wouldn't have done this amazing project. So we want to say thank you to you for looking at our blog and watching us as we have been doing this awesome project. We all have loved it and it has been one of the best proects we have every done. Good bye and Thank you so much!!!

Our Fantastic Teacher-Miss Whizz

Our fantastic teacher, Ms Whizz is the one to thank for all of this! She has helped usthrough thick and thin, through the perfect end product and with all the technicle difficulties! She is the one who has created this project and actually did it, when most teachers would only dream about it! She has organised everything from from setting up all the many accounts to organising class chats on Twitter and organising skyp sessions with Thomas Bennett.

Wednesday

On Wednesday we were finished everything up, since this was 2nd our last day, sadly. Everyone was finishing their blog and making movies and trying to use all the time they had. It was a very fun day because we made a movie! For the iMovie we hafd so to record all the information we learnt, we had to make a movie using anything, like iMovie, iTrailer and Windows Movie Maker. Girls in the class used all of the things. Three groups used iMovie and the rest used iTrailer. We used iTrailer to make our movie. So take  look at it!

Thursday-Pack Up Day

On Thursday everything was finished. All the blogs, movies and learning was done! It was a shame to say good bye to the best two weeks of Grade 6! Packing up was so much harder and slower to pack up and so much quicker and easier to set up! I think it's because we were all so excited to be doing this project, so it was easier and faster! It's a pity that this is all over!I don't know how we are going to addapt back into a normal classroom!

Wednesday-Making Movies

To record all the information we learnt, we had to make a movie using anything, like iMovie, iTrailer and Windows Movie Maker. Girls in the class used all of the things. We used iTrailer to make our movie. So take a look at it!

Tuesday - Lots of FUN!!

After a fun public holiday it was back to school. In the morning our teachers were a bit busy so we checked our exams that we did earlier in the term and then checked our devices. One hour into the day we went to the hall and there was a presentation about to take place so we all sat down. The man that was talking to us was named Kevin ,he was talking to us about his life and how he accomplished what he did. Kevin is a piano player who plays to royalty and not only with royalty also with ONE DIRECTION!! When he said one direction the whole school literally screamed!!Kev Orkan is probably the most talented person we have ever seen! So the lesson Kevin taught us was to never give up on a dream and to persist in hard times. After the talk we arrived back to class and we were making movies of our experience during the whole blended learning. Sadly Ella left today to go to London so we will be missing her lots!

Meet The Team

We are in grade 6 at Micklefield school in Cape Town. We are four girls from a class of 25 girls. Our names are Chloe, Ella, Emma and Caitlin. You will learn much more about us during this blog and we hope we will learn much more about you too if you comment. Our lovely computer teacher Miss Whizz has organised for our class to have a whole two weeks to do our normal school day, but on electronic devices!

Thursday- The Big Move

The first step of the Just Blend I.T project was to transform the science classroom into a modern, comfortable and  spacious area where our class will be learning and working on our devices!

We made song involving the MeerKat SKA Project. We did it to the tune of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. We used information we had found from the brilliant internet who knows everything! Even though it is a short song, it took a long time to create it!

Friday - Putting everything into place

Friday was EPIC, we skyped Thomas Bennet again and he took us on a tour around his office,  he showed us the  24 hour survaliance computer which showed the radio telescopes LIVE!!!!!
He had two girls Laura and Kim ,talking and teaching us things on skype,they taght us lots of things and now we know that there is a type of life in space which is a type of mold on Mars!!!! Yesterday we learned that the speed of  a light years is 9 000 000 000 000 000 meters per second!!! Wow I bet you didn't know that!!! We did our poem about the SKA which will be shown on our blog!!!!

Thursday-Skype Day

Thursday was so much fun, we were all extremely excited about skyping scientists on involving the Meerkat  SKA Project. We talked to some scientist called Thomas Bennett, Kim and Laura and they answered some of our questions. A lady called Fiona Beal came to visit us and watch the Skype conversation. Fiona Beal teaches other teaches who to work with computers. We learnt a lot more about the Meerkat and SKA project. We then had some time to finish up on a couple of things like this blog, our art alien, our SKA PowerPoint and we had to make a song about the MeerKat SKA Project to the tune of any song we wanted too.

Wednesday- Space Day

Wednesday was a lot of hard work, we started learning and researching about the MeerKAT project. With our partners we had to do a powerpoint on the MeerKAT project. Later we had a class chat on twitter about do we think there's life on other planets.

Art

We do art with a fantastic teacher, Mrs Judge. She is very happy that we are doing this project and has decided to let us do all the art for the next two weeks (the duration of this project) on electronic devices. The art project we have been doing is a competition. The competition is called Animation Generation 2013. It is held by a TV program on Cartoon Network called Adventure time. Our job is to create a new character for the show. Since our theme is space, we have to create a character that can go into space. It is a lot of fun! If someone from our school wins, they win money for their school, iPad or a Blackberry and their character will be a new character on Adventure Time.

Monday-sorting everything out

Monday was a great day. It was also Caitlin's birthday. We had a lot of fun creating our blogs, although our group had a few technicle difficulties, but we sorted everything out. At the end of the day our art teacher, Mrs Judge let us watch a clip on Adventure Time, because we are creating an art peice on any app that we can draw on the ipad, for a competition.

 

 

Friday-Checking Devices

On Friday we had lots of fun just chilling, their was an IT specialist who was called Steven, Steven helped us create gmail accounts, twitter accounts and skype accounts. He was very helpful. I think he felt a bit over whelmed because everyone need help with a lot of different things! We had lots of fun on Friday testing all our devices, skyping each other, sending gmails and tweeting!

 

 

 

Tuesday-a blended day

On Tuesday we had a blended day, we had xhsoa and afrikaans in our normal classroom and we worked on this blog a bit, in our modern I.T classroom. On Monday and Friday everything was a bit all over the place with this blog, but on Tuesday everything came together and everything is working out after all.
