The SKA Meerkat Project

The MeerKAT is a project that is a 'tester' for the proper project called SKA which stands for Square Kilometre Array. The MeerKAT project consists of 7 sensitive radio telescopes. SKA consists of 64 radio telescopes. The project is taking place in Karoo Africa and Australia. There are about 100 young scientists and radio astronomers that are working on this project. At least 13 different countries and over 100 different organisations are already involved in this project. The people creating the project are very lucky to have the money from different countries to help fund them. The whole project is going to cost R20 billion! On Thursday we skyped a professional, Thomas Bennett and two other ladies, Kim and Laura. They taught us a lot more about the project. The main thing we learnt was that how much the world has changed, about 25 years ago women had the same job but got paid half the price of men, no women could do the job of men. Today like in the MeerKAT project it doesn't matter if you are men or women and that is one oth the main things we learnt. Everyone asked very important and interesting answers. The big question is will they actually find something?
